![]() ![]() The creek was barely two feet across, and even less deep. Not long ago, I visited the place where we spent so many summer days. The creek that ran through the forest was deep and it was treacherous to cross. In my mind, this place was full of mystery and magic. We would scout for the ideal rocks and plants to “decorate” our fort with. I used to spend days with the other kids on the street in the woods behind our house, looking for the perfect place to build a fort. To a child, a small patch of forest is like an entirely different universe. It always felt like the official start of summer, and I was sad when I grew too old to go. ![]() My friends and I would always rush home after school to change and get ready for the party. Of course, the pool parties were much more wholesome then those in 90’s teen movies. It seemed so much like the pool parties you would see in 90’s teen movies, with the DJ on the balcony of the rec center. On the last day of school every year, the pool would hold a party for the elementary school children. Here are some of my fondest memories from my childhood summers. ![]() I’ve filled my memories with the great experiences that you no longer get to enjoy as responsibilities take control of your life.
